Systems Administrator

August is a leading digital agency based in Richmond, poised and gearing up for some serious growth. We are seeking the services of an experienced systems administrator, to strengthen our dynamic team.

In this role you will be responsible for assisting our team and supporting our production server environments. You will also manage our internal network infrastructure, and provide help desk support and assistance for selected clients — so a helpful and friendly phone manner is a must!

The role will include Linux installation and maintenance along with many other open source products such as Qmail, Apache, MySQL, PHP, Python, and Bind.

As a fast growing agency, we require a pro who can hit the ground running (light–weights need not apply). The job in 60 words or less

  • administration and maintenance of mission–critical web and database servers
  • configuration and set–up of new servers
  • administration of email servers for company–wide email
  • administration of Active Directory
  • system diagnostics and solution engineering both in house and for clients
  • provide support for systems, applications and servers
  • help desk/maintenance/problem solving of desktop PC

Does this sound like you?

  • 2–3 years of commercial experience in a Systems Administrator / Help Desk role
  • tertiary qualifications in Computer Science or Electronics Engineering
  • experience with set up and management of Qmail, Apache, PHP, Python, MySQL, and PostgreSQL
  • management of Windows Server 2003, Exchange 2003 and Windows XP/Vista desktops
  • excellent troubleshooting/problem solving skills
  • excellent communication skills
  • a desire to learn new technologies and grow with the role
