Overview

While the television series was in pre-production, the HolidayForSale.tv consortium engaged August to create a rich media website integrating video content (sourced from the TV program) with existing online booking engines from major travel operators, into a single access, easy to use online portal. Importantly, the website was to offer the audience a seamless experience from viewing TV clips online, guiding them through the research phase and on to booking their holiday online; the first time such an ambitious project had been contemplated in Australia.

Coordinating the elements

A large and ambitious project, HolidaysForSale.tv presented technical challenges including the integration of existing online booking engines, Google Maps locational data and broadcast quality video content. In addition, such a high profile site required a solution that was elegant, highly functional and easy to use for branding purposes, and capable of attracting repeats visits.

Converting online ‘window shoppers’ into online buyers

The success of the HolidaysForSale.tv website lies in its ability to convert browsing behaviour into action. It satisfies the hunger for users to access detailed information about the travel experiences on offer, but also provides the option to convert to sale. The website successfully integrates elements of video, maps and online booking services into a singular, cohesive website. August developed and executed HolidayForSale.tv’s ongoing online communications strategy, to prompt members with special offers. In addition, August was responsible for the site’s creative direction, interface design and execution, plus an online style guide which was applied across the entire website to create a seamless and enjoyable user experience.
